The longboarding phenomena is quickly sweeping the nation, what was once a 70′s laid back California past-time, is now taking the world by storm. People everywhere are jumping on and bombing hills, cruising to work, and doing tricks and feeling what they deserve. Let’s go over the basics, first.

Today’s modern longboards arrive in any shape or form that you desire. It all comes down to how YOU want to ride. There are LOOOONG boards, short boards, decks that run from 35 inches to 70 inches. Most longboards are made out of wood, or a couple layers of wood mixed with synthetic materials. This allows the weight to be kept lower or heavier depending on the style of the board and it’s purpose. Longboard skateboards are very popular for their use of flex. The differences in the “pop” and flex of a board, often dictate the style that it best performs. Once again, it just comes back to you and the style that you want to ride. Some longboarders like poppy flexible longboards, others want them rigid and better fitted for street cruising as opposed to hill bombing. Longboards for down hill runs are thicker and allow the board to pick up speed quickly while minimizing what’s called “speed wobble” Nobody wants to fall going 50 miles per hour! Which brings us to the most important part.
